The SOS-SB avalanche beacon has the same dependable features of the F1-ND w/the added capability of using optional transmitters to locate your transportation or anything you want to be able to locate if it's lost in the snow. The Sled Bug transmitter is attached to your snowmobile wiring harness & is self-contained w/"smart functions" that control its operation. The Snow Bug transmitter can be attached to your pack, skis, or rescue cache; it is powered by 2 AA batteries & has up to 700 hours of transmit time, so it won't go silent just when you're ready to locate your tent & a warm cup of coffee.
Using the SB channel on the avalanche beacon to find your snowmobile & survival gear once a search is completed allows you to complete search & rescue work w/o worrying about locating your transportation.
The primary use of the SOS-SB avalanche beacon is to locate & rescue avalanche victims; therefore, the SOS-SB will always begin searching on 457 kHz. Once that's done, you push the SB button on the unit to enter the Sled Bug/Snow Bug search channel. The distinctive clicking sound indicates that you are searching for signals from the Bug transmitter. The unit will automatically return to search 457 kHz after 2 minutes.

The Sled Bug is a transmitter only, available as an option. It is wired into your snowmobile 12 volt DC electrical system. The Sled Bug rechargeable battery is charged when your machine is running &, when it is turned off, the Sled Bug automatically switches to transmit. It continues to do so until its internal battery is completely discharged or until the sled is restarted. The transmit range is about 50 meters, the size is 75 mm x 65 mm x 20 mm, & weight is 100 grams.
The Snow Bug is a transmitter only, & is on the special SB 'Bug button' frequency. The Snow Bug is designed to be attached to non-electrical items, such as snowboards or backpacks. It uses 2 AA alkaline batteries, & must be turned on manually when you leave your supplies.
