Soltac CookSack Solar Powered Oven
When I first saw the Soltac oven, I slapped myself for not thinking of it, then I got one. The idea is simple & it works: take a strong mylar balloon shaped w/a parabolic curve, & leave one end open. Slide in your 1-1/2 qt. cookpot (included) to sit in the focal point of the reflector, wave a fan (like the one used by fainting damsels in Victorian novels or, if you don't have one of those w/you, a newspaper or a strong breeze will do) to inflate it, then zip it up. Go have fun, come back in 90 minutes, & your supper is ready to eat!
The CookSack is great in areas where campfires or cookstoves are prohibited. It's also useful for melting snow & ice, warming batteries, or as an emergency signaling device.
The whole thing, including the cookpot, weighs only 11.8 oz (334 grams). The
CookSack parabolic oven itself weighs only 1.5 oz. The 1-1/2 qt. kettle is black, w/a special non-stick coating, & weighs 6.2 oz. Tie downs & instructions are included.
